In AC alternating current, actual usable power (Watts) is determined by the Power Factor (PF): $$\text{Real Power (Watts)} = \text{VA} \times \text{Power Factor (typically 0.7 to 0.8)}$$

  • A 1000VA (1KVA) inverter with 0.8 PF actually supports a maximum continuous load of 800 Watts.
  • A 2000VA (2KVA) inverter supports approximately 1,600 Watts.
