There is a common misconception that because an appliance is labeled “Inverter AC” or “Inverter Refrigerator”, it already contains a built-in power backup or voltage stabilizer.
The Reality:
- The “inverter” in an AC refers to a Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) that modulates compressor speed to save energy.
- This internal drive board contains sensitive Microcontroller Units (MCUs), Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistors (IGBTs), and electrolytic filter capacitors.
- When BESCOM grid voltage drops below 170V or surges above 270V, the internal power supply draws excessive current, causing the printed circuit board (PCB) to overheat and burn out.
- Replacement Cost: Replacing an inverter AC outdoor PCB board typically costs between ₹8,000 and ₹14,000—often not covered under standard manufacturer warranties if caused by voltage surges.
Three Steps to Total Appliance Protection
Step 1: Deploy a Dedicated Servo Voltage Stabilizer for Heavy Compressors
